Have You Forgot The Delights Of The Humble Sandwich Toaster?
Now who hasn’t got one of these hidden in the back of a kitchen cupboard, or stuffed in a dusty box up in the attic? Have you forgotten just how lovely toasties are? Let me give you a few recipe ideas to whet your appetite.
The good old cheese toastie is one of my favourites. How simple? Slice or grate the cheese, pop in the toastie, and wait. I like to spice things up by adding any – or all! – of the following: sliced onion or spring onion, tomato, chutney, ham, apple or even banana.
What about zapping some baked beans in the microwave, then add some grated cheese and voila – cheesy beans.
We often throw in any leftovers which have made for some wonderful combos – we have used leftover curry, Bombay potatoes, chicken and stuffing, bacon and mushrooms… you name it, we’ve probably tried it!
What about a sweet toastie? My family like sliced banana, a little brown sugar and some cinnamon. Sometimes we might have banana and chocolate spread. Yum! A little jam is nice, too.
Show me a child that wouldn’t want a toastie. They are so easy to make but my children treat them like a huge treat!
Sandwich toaster prices start from around £14 – what a bargain!
